Professor Zygmunt Paszota became Lead Guest Editor of the Journal of Water Resources and Ocean Science

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Zygmunt Paszota, one of the most distinguished professors of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology at the Gdańsk University of Technology, has become the Lead Guest Editor of the Journal of Water Resources and Ocean Science (Science Publishing Group USA), with the aim of publishing a special issue entitled "On Power Stream in Motor or in Drive System”. Professor Paszota describes his motives for the special issue devoted to the power flux in drives in this way: "The new perspective is based on the proposal to abandon Sankey's 1898 graph describing the power drop in the engine or drive train as consistent with the direction of power flow. The Sankey diagram is incorrect because, according to it, the losses and energy efficiency of motors or drive trains are defined by researchers and manufacturers as parameter functions that depend on the losses. Replacing the Sankey diagram by the Paszota diagram, where the increase in power in the motor or drive system is opposite to the direction of the power flow, makes it possible to determine the losses and energy efficiency of motors or drive systems as a function of the speed and load required from the motor by the machine or equipment being driven. The Paszota diagram opens up a new perspective on the testing of power loss and energy efficiency, enabling an objective energy comparison of all motor and drive train variations.”
